We bought our 75 gallon acrylic SeaClear System II aquarium from PetCo. We have been quite happy with the aquarium, which includes a three-stage filter built into the aquarium. We recently purchased an add-on protein skimmer which seems to work pretty well when we keep the water level high enough.

In the Portland area, we have found PetCo to be a good source of supplies and some fish. The best variety of fish around here seems to be at Hollywood Aquariums in Northeast Portland. Souta's Saltwater has the most exotic collection, focusing on reef tanks.

We used several books to learn about the hobby and found the Beginner Saltwater FAQ very helpful. The newsgroup rec.aquaria.marine.misc can also be a valuable source of information.
